Paul Kron (1869-1936), French

Countryside Landscape (Paysage de Campagne)

Oil on canvas in giltwood frame.

(Combray Gallery ref# FA29)

As a child, Kron was spotted by Adolphe Monticelli who advised him to learn from nature rather than follow formal training. He has been described as one of those artists who combined Fauvism with Impressionism.

Technically accomplished, Kron was adept at conveying the light appropriate to each element of his painting. His ability to combine heavily applied paint with the finest of glazes is reminiscent of Renoir's later technique and is quite remarkable.
